With nearly 30 years of employee benefit experience, Steve has a stellar track record of helping businesses and nonprofit organizations prosper and succeed. He is an insightful problem solver, with the ability to observe interactions, take in diverse interests and information, and synthesize it in a simple message that builds shared understanding and ownership. He has a passion for helping his clients make informed choices, with a humility and insight into people that contribute to the high esteem in which his clients hold him.

Prior to co-founding TRUEbenefits, Steve worked for 13 years with Guardian Life Insurance Company, where he represented the firm’s group benefits and served as regional group manager for five years.

 Steve has earned the designations of Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania), Registered Health Underwriter, and registered Employee Benefits Consultant (both from The American College). He graduated from Oregon State University with a B.S. in Finance and International Business, with minors in Economics and French Language.

Steve is the firm’s resident scholar. He is a passionate student of history, with an enthusiasm for lifelong learning that is contagious. He has a massive collection of fountain pens and an equally impressive wardrobe of bow ties. In his free time, he enjoys cooking and learning about the science of food. He also loves the great outdoors—water skiing, snow skiing, boating and biking with friends and family.
